Chris Blackburn Already Attracting Interest

Former Swindon Town defender Chris Blackburn is already attracting interest from a number of clubs after being released on Wednesday.

Newly promoted League 2 side Aldershot Town are believed to be the favourites to land the defender whilst local rivals Oxford United, Forest Green Rovers and Weymouth are also keen to sign Blackburn. Former club Morecambe could be in with a chance of signing Blackburn as former boss Sammy McIlroy is still a keen admirer of Blackburn`s talents.

Blackburn joined Town under former Boss Paul Sturrock after helping to lead Morecambe to promotion to the Football League but failed to impress current boss Maurice Malpas.

Blackburn was keen to stay and fight for a place in the starting XI however Malpas told Blackburn his chance would never come and that it would be in his best interests to leave the club.

A compensation package was agreed between the player and the club Wednesday which made Blackburn a free agent.
