Swindon Fans Anger At Cox Liverpool Dream

Swindon Town fans have reacted badly over an article that the Swindon Advertiser ran this morning where Town striker Simon Cox stated he wants to play for Liverpool.

The Advertiser ran an interview today where Cox said he could not promise he would not outgrow Swindon and that his ultimate dream is to play at Liverpool.

First of all let`s be honest here, what footballer at Cox`s age does not want to aim for the higher echelons of the game? Swindon Town will not be back in the Premier League any day soon, if ever.

We have all known for some time that Cox was an investment and that he would move on to bigger and better things.

In order for Cox to reach his lofty ambition of playing for Liverpool he would have to play well at Swindon and either get us promoted or earn a move to a top Championship once again proving himself before paving the way for a switch to a Premier League side. It`s a long way off and in reality it is doubtful Cox will ever be playing at Anfield. Liverpool won`t be eyeing up a League One striker to place alongside Robbie Keane or Fernando Torres.

In order for Cox to even think about moving to Liverpool in the future he would have to perform consistently at Swindon which benefits Cox and Swindon so things aren`t all bad.

Now is not the time to turn on Cox, we always knew he would move on given the chance, why wouldn`t in their job?.

Cox still has another year on his contract after this season and will need to continue performing at a high standard. Every player has a dream, Cox is no different. Let`s get behind Cox as he goes for his second league goal of the season in three league games, Saturday against Colchester.

Was Coxy right to come out and say he wants to play for Liverpool?

How do you feel about Cox saying he may outgrow Swindon?

Cox will never play for Liverpool so don't really see the reason for any uproar!

With hindsight some thoughts and ambitions are best kept to yourself, only a sniff of disloyalty and some fans will be on your back. Hopefully Coxy scores loads of goals in our promotion and if he does move we get loadsa dosh for him.

Cox wil have to do well for us anyway to get a move so.... win-win situation really!
STFC_Gazza
cant see him playing any higher than championship , think its good that he wants to play for liverpool as it shows confidence

Absolutely. He has to do well for us to get any move.... Saying that he may get to the Championship with us, score a few then... who knows?

The fans who are complaining need a reality check. If Liverpool were interested in any of our players, I doubt there is anyone who would not be interested, particular the younger players. It's good to have players with ambition rather than journeymen happy to pick up a salary at this level.

I agree. Cox was always an investment it has been said time and time again really!
