Swindon Rivals Oxford Near Administration?

Swindon Town's rivals Oxford United are on the brink of administration according to several reports.

The club has rumoured debts of around £4-5m with former owner Firoz Kassam charging them extortionate rent to play at the Kassam Stadium again said to be around £400,000 a year.

How someone can charge £400,000 a year for a conference club to play at the ground is just ridiculous considering the owner of the Stadium is rumoured to pocket almost everything.

The BBC reports that the clubs owners have not thought about putting the club into administration however the owners themselves have failed to re-assure fans through the clubs official website or through the supporters trust meaning some are taking the BBC report with a pinch of salt.

Ofcourse should Oxford go into administration they would be hit with a 10 point deduction leaving them bottom of the Blue Square Premier.

We hope Oxford stays around so we can continue our rivalry, we wish no club extinction.

Footballing wise it would be slightly amusing seeing Oxford in the Blue Square South next season as AFC Wimbledon pass them on the way up, should they go into administration and not be able to overturn a points deduction.

I see they are denying this - but there is no smoke without fire.
