Swindon No Closer To New Manager

Swindon Town could be set to make an approach for a manager already working at a club with many names rumoured to be on the hit list.

Chief Executive Nick Watkins told the Western Daily Press, that the club may approach other teams to discuss the managers role with someone who is currently employed at another club. The man name rumoured is Colin Calderwood.

Calderwood is under pressure as his Nottingham Forest side are in the relegation places in the Coca Cola Championship and have been for most of the season.

Calderwood has previously stated he would love to come back to Swindon Town as manager and after Forest lost 2-1 at home to Norwich over the weekend calls for Calderwood`s head are becoming louder and louder and the pressure mounts on the Forest board to make a change. Many fans would love to see the return of "The Fridge" as his training and managerial techniques would echo those of a certain Lou Macari who was mildly successful in his time as manager at the County Ground.

A national newspaper stated that Charlton caretaker manager Phil Parkinson is in the running over the weekend but after the sacking of Alan Pardew this is unlikely. Martin Ling of Leyton Orient was linked with the job previously and refused at the time to rule out a move to Swindon.

Ian Holloway is still the bookies favourite however it is still wide open. There have been over 50 applications for the vacant managers role however two of the favourites, Gus Poyet and Luc Nijholt are yet to apply for the job.
