Swindon Town To Start Contract Talks

Swindon Town chairman Andrew Fitton has said that the club will begin contract talks with a couple of players in January.

Several players are out of contract including Craig Easton, Peter Brezovan, Jamie Vincent, Jack Smith, Lilian Nalis and Michael Pook and Fitton is keen to tie down his key ingredients as the club look forward with an eye on next season.

It is expected that Easton, Brezovan and Smith will be priorities in regards to out of contract players.

Brezovan looked all but certain to leave the County Ground after many scouts took note of his form last season. This season however has been a different story. Brezovan's form has been pretty poor and Town may be able to keep the big Czech goalkeeper.

Town talisman Simon Cox has also told the media 'offer me a contract and I'll sign.' Sounds like the right thing to do. By giving Cox a new contract it would show ambition by Town to keep Cox for a possible promotion push next season to the Championship. It would also allow Town to cash in for more money should Cox express a desire to leave after inking a new deal.

Town midfielder Craig Easton who has seen his playing time cut due to the emergence of Michael Pook will be highly sought after in the Summer and Town may wish to keep ahold of Easton past this Summer.

Ofcourse all new deals will be discussed with the new manager in due course.
