Swindon Town chairman Andrew Fitton's search for a new manager was labelled as a pantomime in a local newspaper on Saturday and now fans are turning on him.
Yes the search for the new manager has been frustrating for everyone but for those who think Fitton hasn't got better things to do than find the next boss need to think again.
The abuse aimed at Fitton on some message boards is simply out of order. Fitton himself, I am sure would happily accept constructive criticism and has happily came out and admitted when he was wrong, like by bringing in Maurice Malpas.
Fans complained under the old board that they were not letting fans know what was going on, Fitton has done this and although it may not be news fans want to hear, at least he and Nick Watkins have kept fans informed.
Fitton's consortium since they have arrived have wiped out all historical debt, cleaned up the County Ground stadium, held several fans forums as well as bring in ticket incentives, better food on match days and over haul the suites in the Arkells Stand.
All the noises off the pitch are good.
Fitton knows that he must get the managerial appointment right this time or see his reputation tarnished as he noted in an interview over the weekend.
The people slamming the chairman and blaming him for no decent signings need to look no further than the manager who was negotiating with the players in question.
Those who are short minded have clearly forgotten that Fitton paid a hefty sum to bring hot shot Simon Cox to the County Ground just under a year ago from Reading.
Things will get better, they really can't get much worse on the pitch.
Fitton can only appoint a manager. It is then down to them and the players who call themselves professionals to come in and perform.
