New Stadium Plans Coming Together

Swindon Town's plans may have been un-realistic and over ambitious but at last nights Trust STFC (Swindon Town Supporters Trust) Meeting, new plans were unveiled which could help Swindon finally get their new Stadium.

The new plans that have yet to be finished or officially unveiled are not only focusing on the County Ground stadium. The key focus is to make the County Ground site into a Central Swindon Leisure Facility.

The key points to the plans are to be kept under wraps at the minute because they have yet to be finalised and the groups do not want to release too much information until everyone is happy with the new proposals.

We can however reveal, The Keep Town In Swindon gang have been working closly with local residents, Swindon Borough Council, Swindon Town Football Club and other fans to come up with new plans and so far the response has been mainly positive. There finally appears to be light at the end of this long tunnel.

The main idea behind the proposals is to create a gateway to the Town Centre and to make better use of the open space at the County Ground without necessarily building on it.

The new plans do not include moving the athletics track but do include building on the current footprint of the County Ground and on the car park. The new plans also make sure that most of the green space at the County Ground site is retained.

More information on these plans will be released shortly however due to the sensitive nature of this project, we are not yet willing to release the main details into the public domain as we do not want to alienate any of the parties involved.

For more information on the new plans, I would suggest coming to the next Trust STFC Meeting. No date has yet been set for this meeting.
