It was a good weekend for Swindon Town fans. Rarely have I had the relief of writing such a statement this season. It's been a poor campaign, at times it's felt dire.
However it's odd that we haven't yet endured a emphatic loss - we somehow lost 2-0 at Cheltenham (we dominated that one) and also lost 2-0 at home to Brighton (we were terrible). However, final score wise that's as bad as it got (Peterborough coming up could result in a tonking but it won't matter!)
We've massively underperformed and hopefully this season is a case of lesson learned for everyone at the club.
Yesterday, Simon Cox scored his 29th and 30th goals of the season (49 matches) to secure a win against Bristol Rovers and avoid relegation from the 3rd tier. Time will tell as to whether we'll see Cox in a Swindon shirt at the County Ground ever again - I certainly hope so.
In the next couple of weeks we'll begin to learn the fates of the out-of-contract 17. I would imagine 4 or 5 will be offered new deals (whether they accept is another thing).
Oh, and Oxford United lost today at home in front of 10,000 to relegated Northwich Victoria today.
Like I mentioned, a good weekend.
