Shirtliff Finally Appointed

Shirtliff Finally Appointed

After long speculation Peter Shirtliff has finally been confirmed as Danny Wilson's assistant manager.

Wilson and Shirtliff were team mates at Sheffield Wednesday during a enjoyable era for the Owls including participating in 1-0 League Cup Final win over Manchester United in 1991.

Many will remember Shirtliff as a decent central defender, his defensive minded coaching could prove crucial after last seasons disappointed effort at the back.

Shirtliff has managed Mansfield Town and coached at Barnsley and Leicester City.

Hopefully another piece of the jigsaw in place. His defensive experience should be what we want to iron out a few problems in that area.

Shirtliff will give you 100%...I look forward to welcoming him back to The Valley when you visit, even though he never played for us there!! His time with us was during the dark days "sharing" *****ehurst with palarse.
