Sharp Rush as Evans Heads For Bramall Lane

In recent weeks Sheffield United striker has been tenously linked with a switch to Swindon Town. Whilst in Austria Wilson stated that any move for Sharp would depend on what Kevin Blackwell is prepared to do, whether write-off a significant amount of the 2 million they paid Scunthorpe for his services in 2007 or allow him to join on a long-term loan deal.

However, Manchester City striker Ched Evans is expected to seal a permanent switch to Sheffield United in the coming days so this could make the availability of Sharp more likely with Darius Henderson and Jamie Ward also ahead of him at Bramall Lane.

Would he be willing to drop back down to League One? Sharp enjoyed a fantastic spell with Scunthorpe United between 2005-2007 scoring an impressive 53 league goals in 82 games before returning to Sheffield United (where he started his career), the club he supported as a child.

His second stint at United has seen him score only 8 times in 51 league outings.

Expect several clubs to declare their interest in Sharp's services!
