Is Wilson Chasing Trundle?

The Bristol Evening Post believe that Swindon Town are continuing to negotiate a loan deal from £1million striker Lee Trundle.

Trundle's time at Ashton Gate hasn't gone to plan with the 33 year old only showing the occasional glimpse of ability that persuaded Gary Johnson to fork out the sizable transfer fee to Swansea City in 2007.

It is rumoured that the percentage of wages Swindon will pay Trundle remains the stumbling block in negotiations.

Lee Trundle is a native of Liverpool and was later arrival to professional football after spells with Stalybridge Celtic, Southport, Bamber Bridge and Rhyl before earning a contract with Wrexham in 2000.

While playing for the Red Dragons he scored 27 goals in 94 outings before moving to South Wales in 2003 after signing for Swansea City.

Trundle became a legendary figure at Swansea scoring an impressive 78 times in 146 outings for the Jacks. It was at Swansea where Trundle gained national attention for his 'Showboating', especially on the Sky Sport television show Soccer AM.

His Bristol City career has failed to live up to expectations although he still has a group of loyal supporters who believe Trundle should be used with their first team.

Trundle's finest moment in a Bristol City shirt was scoring from just outside the box in the Play-Off Semi-Final against Crystal Palace in 2008.

He spent a time on loan at Leeds United last season.

Good in his day - but has now faded away and looks over the hill and over weight. - probably over priced too.. nah not for me ...

One must question what on earth made Gary Johnson fork out £1million for a 30 year old who had never played higher than League One? That goal against Palace aside, he appears to have been a massive flop there. However, if it's a loan deal and he's up for it, why not?
