ALUMNI: James Milner Earns 1st Cap
Former Town loan player James Milner finally earned his first full cap for England in their 2-2 draw against Holland this evening.
After a prolonged FIVE year career in the Under-21 set-up where he played a record 46 times he finally got rewarded for his consistant displays both in the Premiership and the England youth squads.
Milner came on with little over 20 minutes to go and looked lively throughout. His hard work eventually resulted in Milner setting up Jermain Defoe's equalising goal.
In 2003 then Swindon boss Andy King called his old friend Peter Reid to see whether he would allow the youngster to play in the 3rd year for Town. Reid accepted and Milner joined Swindon on a months loan.
Milner played six times for Swindon, enjoying an unbeaten spell 3 draws (Brighton, Barnsley and Luton) and 3 wins (Wrexham, Grimsby and Peterborough) - in his final two matches for Swindon he scored (Peterborough and Luton).
Andy King then unsuccesfully attempted to extend the loan deal but Milner would be soon going on to better things.
