Revell Joins Until January

Only one piece of business involving Swindon's senior squad happened today. Danny Wilson has brought in Southend United striker Alex Revell on loan until January with a view to a permanent switch if he impresses.

26 year old Revell, who played against Town last Saturday, only joined the Shrimps in January 2008 from Brighton & Hove Albion for £150,000. The reason for Steve Tilson allowing him to go appears to be purely on financial grounds with the Essex club needing to lower the wage bill. Southend also let former Town target Kevin Betsy join Wycombe on loan but turned down a decent bid for midfielder Alan McCormack.

Alex Revell started his career with his hometown club, Cambridge United where he played 57 league games scoring 5 goals before falling into Non-League with Braintree Town. His brief stint outside the Football League was an enjoyable one scoring 35 goals in only 30 games for The Iron helping them earn promotion to the Conference South.

An £8,000 move to Brighton & Hove Albion followed where he scored 13 in times in 57 games for The Seagulls.

He was less prolific for Southend United, scoring only 4 times in 40 appearances but one of those included a 2-1 over Swindon Town in October 2008.

Revell will now attempt to earn a permanent deal with Town.

In other news, the rumour mill let us down as Alan Sheehan joined Oldham Athletic on a months loan today. We won't make it up but if we read it we might report it!
