STFC Reserves 2-3 Saints Reserves

Three goals in ten first half minutes was enough to give Southampton Reserves the win at Hungerford this evening.

The Saints included former Town loanee Lee Holmes and veteran Tunisian international Radhi Jaïdi in their line-up.

It was Town who took the lead through Craig Easton after 16 minutes after a through ball from Michael Timlin.

Peacock had an opportunity to score on his return but was unsuccesful before Saints equalised through Senegal international Papa Waigo N'Diaye (on loan from Fiorentina) after 29 minutes who fired in from just inside the penalty box.

This sparked a good 10 minutes for Southampton as Chelsea loanee Jacob Mellis after he pounced on Jesionkowski's fumbled block.

Simon Gillett made it 3-1 after 39 minutes after he captialised on the Swindon defences inability to clear the ball.

After several efforts from both sides, the only goal in the second half went to Swindon in the form of an own goal by Southampton 2nd year scholar Ryan Tafazolli
