King Takes Swindon To Court

Former Swindon Town manager Andy King is taking his former employers to court.

King who was sacked for the second time by Swindon in September after a dismal start to the season, was meant to be paid for a year after his sacking.

King claims he has not been paid for two to three months and has had no other option than to take the club to an industrial tribunal where they could request a winding up order against the club, should the tribunal rule in favour of King.

Speaking to BBC Radio Swindon, Deputy Chairman Mark Devlin explains the current situation, 'The club at the time obviously didn't have the money to pay it (the years salary) in one big hit (after he was sacked), so they began to pay it on a monthly basis. There was a reassessment of where the money needed to go, and we haven't paid Andy for two or three months now. He decided to take us to court which is totally understandable, it's his prerogative.'

Just as the club stated they were pretty much trading on an 'even Keel', this situation comes up. The clubs well documented money problems have come back to light just about 8 months after the last winding up order.

Devlin concluded 'We do fully intend to pay Andy but we need to pay him when obviously the club has the money.'
