Cox Loan Would be Welcomed

Cox Loan Would be Welcomed

Andrew Fitton has unsurprisingly welcomed the idea of former Swindon favourite Simon Cox rejoining the club on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

In an interview with the Swindon Evening Advertiser the Town chairman admitted that it was unlikely such a deal would happen due to the Baggies' reluctance to allow Cox to drop one division into League One and has been linked with a loan move to Championship side Watford.

Fitton states that 'West Brom are asking Simon to play in a different position and I don`t completely understand that' and finished with the tongue and cheek comment that 'if they [West Brom] want him to play in a different way then they may not want to send him back here. We might teach him bad habits - like goal-scoring'.

In many ways, Simon Cox has been the missing link in Swindon's season with goals tending to be lacking from our current forwards.

Simon Cox was signed by West Brom just before they appointed Roberto Di Matteo as managers. Now although Di Matteo approved the deal one must wonder whether the former Italy international was overly keen on the Reading born striker. This summer, Di Matteo also brought in Rotherham striker Rueban Reid (who has rarely featured) to compete alongside their other forwards Roman Bednář, Chris Wood, Luke Moore and hmael Miller.

Cox has only featured in five league games for West Brom so far this season (four as a sub) and as all Swindon fans will know, Cox won't be happy with that at all!
