'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dastardly Deeds By Town Alumni

Fraser Digby (Crystal Palace)

The Swindon Town legend returned to the County Ground with Palace in January 2000 and helped his side beat Town 4-2 with goals from Clinton Morrison (2), Craig Foster and Hayden Mullins (Gareth Hall and Alan Reeves netted for Town).

Mark Walters (Bristol Rovers)

The England one cap wonder who had a decent spell with Swindon playing 112 league games scoring 24 times returned with local rivals Bristol Rovers and helped them to a 3-1 win at the County Ground in October 2000.

Chris Hay (Huddersfield Town)

The Scottish striker played 94 times for Swindon in the 2nd tier of the Football League between 1997-2000 before the financially troubled Swindon were essentially forced to sell him to Huddersfield Town for the small fee of £75,000.

He returned to haunt Swindon in February 2002 by scoring the only goal of the game from Huddersfield in the 54th minute.

Frank Talia & Andy Thomson (Wycombe Wanderers)

Swindon suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss to Wycombe Wanderers in February 2003. The Chairboys line-up included former Town shotstopper Frank Talia who played over 100 times for Town and Andy Thomson who was a product of Swindon's youth system in the early 90's.

Thomson made his football league debut as a starter in Town's 5-0 loss to Leeds United which was our last fixture in the Premier League. He started the following season as a regular under John Gorman but lost his place when Steve McMahon replaced the Scot. Thomson went on to forge a decent Football League career with Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers.

Kevin Watson (Colchester United)

Town brought in 'Chipper' from Tottenham Hotspur in 1996 but never established his place in the Swindon first team. He played only 63 times over 3 seasons before moving to Rotherham United.

He returned to the County Ground with Colchester United on the first day of 2005, helping his side demolish a woeful Town with a 3-0 win for the visitors.

Andy Monkhouse (Hartlepool United)

Monkhouse was Dennis Wise's first signing for Swindon and was a regular until Paul Sturrock almost immediately offloaded him to Hartlepool.

Sadly for Town he's returned to Swindon and scored the winning goal in Hartlepool's 1-0 victory in Wiltshire in February 2007 and again in 2009 during a 2-0 loss... Monkhouse incited the crowd by pointing his name while celebrating.

Lee Holmes (Walsall)

Holmes enjoyed a successful loan spell with Swindon from Derby County when still one of England's brightest young talents. He almost joined Town again but opted to go elsewhere - he joined Walsall and scored a brace in their 3-0 win over Town in February 2008. A certain Tommy Mooney also started for Walsall that day but failed to score.

Johnnie Jackson (Colchester United)

The former Town loan player scored his sides first of a 3-1 win over Town in August 2008. Mark Yeates also played for Colchester that day.
