'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Football League Trophy News

The Football League has once again re-named it's trophy competition.

The Football League has signed a 7 figure 3 year sponsorship deal with Johnstone's Paints, to re-name the trophy the, Johnstone's Paints Trophy.

Team's from League One and League Two will play in the competition formerly known as the LDV Vans trophy and Football League Trophy.

'This is excellent news and provides a real end-of-season boost for League clubs,' said Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney.

'All supporters want to see their club competing for silverware and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy gives clubs from Leagues One and Two a cup competition that realistically they can win.'

Swansea City beat Carlisle this season to win the trophy.
