League One Round-Up

League One Round-Up

Now we are very much in the proverbial 'business end' of the 2009/10 season almost every game has significance towards Swindon Town's fortunes... Here's what happened tonight...

Colchester United 3-3 Brentford

The visitors raced into an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from David Hunt and Leon Legge. However, by half-time United were back on level terms due to an own goal from David Hunt and an injury time leveller by Anthony Wordsworth.

Brentford scored a third through Charlie MacDonald but were pegged back for a final time thanks to a David Prutton effort.

Southampton 3-2 Hartlepool United

You simply cannot write off the Saints until it's a mathematic certainty!

Hartlepool, Swindon's next opponants, took a surprise lead through ex-Robin Andy Monkhouse but almost immediately conceded an equaliser courtesy of a Lee Barnard strike.

The Saints second and third came thanks to another goal from Rickie Lambert and Papa Waigo.

Hartlepool refused to quit however and Neil Austin pulled one back with a rare goal for the defender.

... the other fixture of the evening took place at Roots Hall where Southend United produced a crucial 3-0 win against midtable Walsall.
