Cult Hero: Lescinel Jean-Francois

Cult Hero: Lescinel Jean-Francois

In late January 2009 Danny Wilson brought an unknown defender to Swindon on a Free Transfer after an unsuccessful spell with French outfit En Avant Guingamp.

This player barely featured in Danny Wilson's plans to avoid relegation from League One.

However, along with Phil Smith and Craig Easton, he was given a new deal. Many Town fans scratched their heads confused as to how this player, Lescinel Jean-Francois, escaped the swinging axe of the Town boss as he had not impressed in the 5 games he played in during the disappointing 2008/09 campaign.

Now, Jean-Francois isn't Town's greatest player but his improvement has impressed Town fans.

LJF was directly affected by the earthquake in Haiti during the season as his young sister was one of the missing. However, he kept playing on, earning respect from fans across the country.

His commitment, endeavour has earned Lescinel Jean-Francois the Vital Swindon Cult Hero 2010 award.
