Reports have began to circulate that Goalkeeper Rhys Evans has accepted an offer to join Blackpool on a two year deal.
Evans had been waiting for a call from Swindon Town Chief Executive Mark Devlin with a revised deal.
The club had offered Evans a 1 year contract. Evans was upset and insulted by the offer as the club had began to offer multi-year deals to out of contract players.
With the Arrival of new manager Dennis Wise, Evans spoke openly to the press on Thursday saying, I have had discussions (with Swindon) but am still waiting for a (revised) offer to come through.
'At every stage when I have spoken to (chief executive) Mark Devlin I have given every opportunity for them to say they want me to stay.
'But I have not received a phone call from the new manager yet. I know he has spoken to one other member of the team, so I'm not sure if he wants me or not.
'The longer I do not receive a phone call from Dennis Wise, the more I am going to think he has got someone else in mind and does not want me.' Evans said.
Evans a former England Under 21 Goalkeeper who joined Swindon prior to the 2003/04 season from Chelsea and was the clubs player of the season this year.
Should these reports of Evans departure prove true it would mark the third time in three seasons the clubs player of the season would leave the club.
Tommy Mooney left for Oxford United after the 2003/04 season and Sam Parkin left for Ipswich Town after the 2005/06 season.
Evans had always said that he wanted to make a decision one way or another prior to going on Holiday next week with his family. Many assumed that Rhys would be sure to stay after the arrival of Dennis Wise but with no phone call from the new manager it appears to have sealed the deal, Rhys Evans will be playing in League One next season for Blackpool.
If Evans does leave the County Ground this would mean the club would have to look for 2 new goalkeepers as previous manager Iffy Onuora released back up keeper Matt Bulman at the end of the season.
