Lescinel Jean-Francois: The Model Pro

As the Swindon Town celebrations at The Valley went into full swing in the minutes after Stephen Darby's penalty kick sailed comfortably into the net, one man kneeled alone near the centre circle.

The emotions running through the mind of Town defender Lecsinel Jean-Francois went far beyond the melodramatic euphoria of reaching Wembley. Lescinel was in mourning.

"I have been aware for some weeks now that the body of Lecsinel`s sister was finally found in the wreckage after many weeks of uncertainty" said Chief Executive Nick Watkins to the Swindon Advertiser.

Lescinel's 11 year old sister had been missing after the Haiti earthquake in January but was finally recovered.

Watkins continued by stating that the Haiti internation had "kept it very quiet and didn`t want anybody to be aware of the situation apart from Danny Wilson and myself, and we helped him with organising the repatriation of the body.'

This awful story highlights the insignificance of football but really makes you appreciate the effort and commitment of Lescinel during his stressful 2010 so far - he's often the scapegoat but deserves full credit.

"I have no doubt at all though that he did his sister`s memory proud." Watkins concluded and he's quite right.
