'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Who on Earth is Dumitru Copil?

Romanian midfielder Dumitru Copil is set to join Swindon Town according to websites based in his native Romania.

Little is known about Copsil other than he was most recently playing for Liga II side FCA UTA Arad. The 20 year old also had a brief spell in Scotland with Heart of Midlothian but was strongly linked to both Celtic and Liverpool as a teenager.

In December 2006, the BBC quoted his coach at Atletico Arad, Arpad Cserneczky describing Copsil as like 'Hagi, but Frank Lampard would be the closest British equivalent to him in terms of playing style and aggression.'

it's a case of wait and and see a to whether anything comes of this...

Hearts spent a lot of time and money on developing him. I think if I remember correctly they got his parents jobs and home in Edinburgh. After all of that he was injured from time to time then became homesick and was let go. In fact, he went awol and, after some time, managed to negotiate early release from his contract at Hearts. Shame really as eveyone touted his pedigree and yet, like many, he seemed to squander it all. The Hagi stories were doing the rounds prior to him signing for Hearts. Maybe he has changed, or at the very least matured. Hope he does a trick for you.

Quote from Daily Record: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! Hearts Bad Boy Dimitru Copil Walks Out On Club Mar 17 2008 HEARTS have slapped a £150,000 price tag on departed bad boy Dimitru Copil. The 17-year-old has returned to Romania after walking out of Tynecastle amid rumours of disciplinary problems. Copil arrived at Hearts last summer after they beat off Celtic to sign the kid dubbed one of European football's hottest talents for £200,000 from his hometown team Atletico Arad, handing him a five-year contract.
