Mancini Swoops for Henshall

England Youth international Alex Henshall has left Swindon to sign scholarship forms with Premiership big spenders Manchester City. After a year Henshall is expected to sign a professional deal.

In fairness, it was only a matter of time before the promising youngster would leave for the bright lights of the top flight.

What's most important for Town fans is 'what's in it for us?'. Well a transfer sum of £250,000 plus percentages and loan players are believed to be chairman Andrew Fitton's aim and, hopefully, final outcome.

Henshall joins the ever growing list of Town youngsters who have stepped up to bigger clubs including Matthew Collins (Fulham), Theo Walcott (Southampton), Leigh Mills (Spurs), Lukas Jutkiewicz (Everton), Ben Tozer (Newcastle) and Jamie Stephens (Liverpool).

Good luck Alex!

It's good to see you taking this view. Too many supporters get hung up when their startlets leave for more lucrative pastures. If ours don't make it to the first team, we at Man City take great pleasure in seeing them do well elsewhere - except of course if they should play against us and inevitably score! I'll watch out for this young man and see how he progresses.

He will be coming to a top club. Hope he has what it takes.

Have to be realistic and if it's £250,000 for a kid then that can only be good for STFC. If he's that good we'll ultimately make more money with percentages later on. Win, win for all parties.
