Fallon Helps NZ to Draw
Former Swindon Town forward Rory Fallon helped his nation New Zealand earn a deserved and valuable point in their World Cup fixture this afternoon.
The low-scoring Plymouth Argyle player was on Swindon's books between 2003 and 2006 scoring 22 times in 77 league games before earning a move to Swansea City.
New Zealand tried to secure the services of Fallon while he was a Swindon player but FIFA regulations prevented from Fallon earning a call-up.
However, FIFA rules were relaxed and Fallon was soon helped New Zealand reached the World Cup Finals after scoring against Bahrain.
Rory Fallon started the match against Slovakia quite brightly as the 'All Whites' battled to keep a clean sheet going into Half Time.
However, the Slovaks scored early into the Second Half through Lille forward Robert Vittek and looked like holding on to their slender lead but a 93rd minute equaliser by defender Winston Reid gave New Zealand a deserved and historic point.
