Wise Hoping For Leeds Friendly

Swindon Town Chief Executive Mark Devlin has confirmed that Dennis Wise is talking to big clubs about a pre-season friendly.

'There are clubs we are talking to and we hope to be able to announce some of the pre-season games in the next few days.'

Devlin confirmed that Wise had approached several big name clubs however many teams take their pre-season operations overseas these days.

'Dennis Wise will be looking to pull a few strings but a lot of the bigger clubs, like Chelsea, are often away in different parts of the world at the times we are trying to arrange friendlies for.'

Wise is looking to test his players prior to the new season and had made it clear fitness is the key, 'Ideally we would like to finish with a match against a Premiership or Championship club on the last Saturday before the new season begins (July 29). We have spoken to a few clubs and many are at the same stage as us, so it's a case of working out dates that fit each other.' Devlin said.

The most realistic game at the moment appears to be against Leeds United who Swindon last played in the second round of the Carling Cup 2 seasons ago.

'Dennis has spoken to Ken Bates about that (a game with Leeds) but there is no confirmation about whether or not they will be available yet.'

I would like to see a Pre-season with Norwich. But that is because I could visit family in Devizes, as well as see my first team play against my second. Whoever you get, please don't linger down there too long. The Championship misses you...

lets have a friendly against reading

Yeah, and the Pope will wear a Durex next time he is on the pull, lol! I love it. Others here in Norwich don't understand my yearning to see them out-perform even Sunderland next season...
