Pre-season: Chelsea V Swindon?

Swindon Town manager Dennis Wise has been in touch with top Premiership club's while preparing for the 2006/07 pre-season.

Chief Executive Mark Devlin spoke to Swindon Town's official site and explained, 'Dennis tells me he has put in a call to Chelsea but obviously they are something of a global brand these days.'

'More and more top-flight teams have these foreign tours in pre-season and organising matches is a lot more difficult than it used to be.'

Wise and new assistant Manager Gus Poyet enjoyed sucessful spells at Stamford Bridge over the years, and hope they will answer the call for a preseason friendly.

Town have also been in contact with other top clubs according to Devlin, 'We’ve also put the feelers out in terms of Tottenham Hotspur and Watford but again, no guarantees. We are aware that we didn’t face any Football League teams in the build up to last season.'

These days most Premiership clubs prepare for the coming season with games outside of England, which may be a stumbling block to securing a big name fixture at the County Ground.
