STFC: David McNamee Joins on Trial

Former St. Mirren, Livingston and Coventry City right back David McNamee will play for Swindon Town Reserves against Swansea this afternoon.

While he's still not the centre-back many fans are wanting, he has decent enough experience to warrant having a look.

Much like former Swindon captain Gordon Greer, McNamee started his career outside the Scottish Premier League before earning a move to Blackburn Rovers where he spent a couple of seasons playing Reserve team football.

He returned to Scotland with Livingston where he earned his four Scotland caps under Berti Vogts.

In 2004, he played 80 minutes of the Scottish League Cup Final collecting a winners medal after Livingston beat Hibernian 2-0 at Hampden Park.

McNamee returned to England with Coventry City in 2005 but injuries restricted him to only 29 appearances for the Sky Blues.

In 2008, he joined Plymouth Argyle where he made only 19 first team appearances.

There was quite an angry-ish reaction around the forums because he was a right back... Wasted discussion in the end!
