STFC: Town and Supermarine Progress

In what is a historic day for football in the town of Swindon. Both Swindon Town and Swindon Supermarine progressed into the Second Round of the F.A. Cup.

Although faultering in League One, Town recorded a comfortable and dominant 4-0 victory over fellow League One strugglers Plymouth Argyle.

First half goals from Plymouthian Sean Morrison and Charlie Austin along with two more in the second half from former Argyle loanee Vincent Pericard and Vital Swindon Player of the Month Matt Ritchie gave town access to the next round.

Meanwhile, Southern League Premier Division outfit Swindon Supermarine recorded a historic 2-1 home victory over Eastwood Town of the Conference North.

The Marine goals came from former Town youngster Ashan Holgate and Ben Wells.
