Swindon Town players are in for a big surprise if they think training will be a push over this season under new manager Dennis Wise.
Wise has decided to push the players as hard as possible by having heart monitors at their training ground in Wanborough.
In a move similar to Swindon Town legend Lou Macari, Wise stated, if the players do not reach the fitness levels they should then they will do it again and again until they do it right.
Speaking to The clubs official site Wise explained the logic behind his new training methods.
'The tests that we have done have put the players to their maximum. There is no hiding place and the heart monitors make it clear how hard they are working. If they are not working to the desired levels then they can just do it again.'
'The results from the heart monitors will be useful and assessed so we know the way the players work. There will also be power training but that will come later on,'
'The pre-season programme has been set out for the next five weeks so we know what we will be doing. We have had a little bit of help from Antonio Pintas, who I worked with at Chelsea and Millwall, who has assisted us in the planning side.'
'All I ask is that the players put in 110% and work hard. After the fitness work is done we will help them with the technical side and that's something we will do. If the players are fit and strong then they will be mentally strong, which is massively important to us,'
This will be good news to Swindon Town fans who have stated the team looked unfit and overweight last season.
