STFC: McParland Drafted In

Former Notts County manager Ian McParland has been appointed as Paul Hart's assistant manager.

McParland, 49, enjoyed a nine year career as a player with Notts County along with small spells with Hull City, Walsall and Dunfermline Athletic among others before moving into coaching.

The Scotsman spent ten years coaching Nottingham Forest including working under Paul Hart and a small spell as the clubs joint-caretaker manager along with Frank Barlow.

He returned to Notts County as manager in 2007 and enjoyed two years with the Magpies before the hysteria surrounding the Sven-Göran Eriksson era resulting his eventual departure.

McParland's next port-of-call was a coaching at Ipswich Town under Roy Keane. When Keane was sacked, McParland was appointed Caretaker Manager and suffered a 7-0 loss against Chelsea in the F.A. Cup but guided Ipswich to a 1-0 1st Leg victory over Arsenal at Portman Road before departing upon the appointment of Paul Jewell.
