STFC: Flop Obika Leaves

Jonathan Obika has been 'recalled' by his parent club Tottenham Hotspur.

Obika, was signed by Danny Wilson and scheduled to remain in Wiltshire until the end of the season.

However, since Wilson's departure Obika disappeared from view and has now returned to White Hart Lane.

Obika featured five times (four losses and a draw) for Town and failed to score and never really looked like doing so.

Not at all surprised by this. Not the right sort of player to drag out of a relegation battle.

You obviously do not know much about football and also have a selfish point of view as regards loanees, the guy has huge potential and I would think that he was recalled because he was not getting the chances that he deserved at your tiny club.
sidyid
Maybe he got no service at Swindon? Mate of mine supports them and goes to the games and said Obika was constantly getting booed by his own fans. Hardly what a young player needs for confidence.
Chris Hart
Fecking hell lads, give him a chance. The lad's young, he's still learning, and he's supposed to be..well, if not supported, then at least not booed, as Chris Hart alleged above. I can understand if he isn't performing, yeah, it's fine to give him some stick, but constantly booing him and not really giving him a chance in the first place isn't the form I'd expect. Bad show.

probably not Paul harts type of player and what is the point keeping him at the club when he isnt going to play. sadly some of the spurs loanees have gone to struggling sides and usually a manager will always look to older heads over kids in such situations. However as an Oxford man, I hope the season ends badly for you guys ;-)

How does criticising a player question my lack of knowledge of football? A bizarre statement.... Also, "selfish point of view" is EXACTLY what it's all about regarding loanees in the Lower Leagues! I couldn't care less about his potential and what he MIGHT do in the future. I care about the here and now and what he could do in a Swindon shirt, which was little. They're brought in to make an impact... Your defence of your player is admirable but he didn't do anything for Swindon Town and now he's been shipped out to Yeovil where's he's comfortable.
Nellup
I will cheer everytime i see Swindon losing on skysports news from now on. Pathetic article. Hope you go down. And i guess it is a little more comfortable at Yeovil - 7 wins in 36 is disgraceful. You should all (i say all but it looks like theres just you) be booing yourselves
micyid
i feel he had good potential however i feel he was too young to deal with Swindon's current league position!! and POTENTIAL is not what Swindon need!! so some of these Tottenham supporter comments baffle me!!! prospects are good but from a loan player you need a match changer... and tbh if you don't have anything better to do than watch Swindon's results and hope they go down then i really feel sorry for you lives... thes lack of knowledge of the lower leagues really baffles me...

RE: Obika, you are absolutely correct Nick. I have nothing against the lad or Spurs. However, I clearly struck a nerve with some of the Vital Spurs folks but the honest truth is that he wasn't very good for us.
