Oxford Favourite Magilton Interviewed

Former Ipswich Town and Q.P.R. manager Jim Magilton has applied for the vacant Town job and is believed to have been interviewed.

Magilton started his career with Liverpool but failed to break into the first team at Anfield.

A move to our old friends Oxford United followed where he enjoyed four seasons at the Manor Ground, scoring 34 times in 150 outings.

A move to the top flight with Southampton followed and after three seasons at The Dell he signed for Sheffield Wednesday for Ł1.6million in 1997.

In 1999, Magilton signed for Ipswich Town and became a firm favourite at Portman Road playing over 250 league games. He also played 52 times for Northern Ireland.

Magilton was given his first opportunity in management by Ipswich who promotion him after the departure of Joe Royle in 2006.

He then had three seasons as manager but failed to match the expectations of the board after being given a decent budget and left Ipswich in April 2009.

Magilton wasn't out of the job for long, he replaced Paulo Sousa at Queens Park Rangers in June 2009.

However, he left Q.P.R. in the December after a bit of fallout involving Ákos Buzsáky. Magilton has been without a club since.
