Ashton Gate test for Town

Ashton Gate test for Town

Is there such thing as the 'magic of the League Cup'?

Probably not but Paolo Di Canio will be given a early test after his side were drawn to play Bristol City in the Carling Cup 1st Round, a deal that has excited many Town supporters.

The tie will take place on Tuesday 9th August at 1945 (kick-off to be confirmed).

It's been a while, over five years in fact. The last time wasn't a great day in Swindon Town's history as the club were relegated after a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate. Former City midfielder Aaron Brown played out one of his best games in a Swindon shirt and scored a decent goal for his trouble but David Cotterill's goal killed any hopes of a 'Great Escape'.

Anywho, I'm sure Town fans are more excited than our Bristolian friends but heck a night fixture at Ashton Gate is a half decent draw for Town.
