The Football League has voted in favour of reducing the amount of substitutes names on the bench from seven back to five.
A Football League spokesman explained that the change was a 'sensible and prudent step given the financial challenges facing many football clubs and the commitment made earlier this summer to adopt Uefa's Financial Fair Play framework."
So basically clubs don't have to pay certain bonuses to players who frankly probably don't deserve them! Rightly so.
Seven subs can be named for F.A. Cup and League Cup matches.
Swindon Town players such as Nathan Thompson, Billy Bodin and Will Evans were among the players who won that sixth and seventh place last year (rarely making it onto the pitch). The decision could lead to more Town players leaving on loan.
