Di Canio Rant Was Only Because He Loves Swindon

Swindon Town gaffer Paolo Di Canio is going nowhere according to Town`s interim chairman Jeremy Wray.

PDC threatened to quit Town if he did not get five new players in January but Wray states this is just the passion coming out of the fiery Italian. Wray explained to the Swindon Advertiser, that the comments where made in the heat of the moment and that he would rather Di Canio be passionate than be another manager who didn`t seem to care, Remember Paul Hart, who bored listeners to tears with his constant sometimes seemingly drunken ramblings last season.

Wray also stated that the club is willing to back Di Canio in the transfer market and sat down last week to discuss potential new signings.

Wray told the local rag, "Paolo`s response in the heat of the moment is what he is all about. It is that type of passion why we brought him to Swindon in the first place," said Wray.

"If Paolo`s passion and commitment is sometimes the cause of the occasional outburst, then I would rather have that every time over a manager who gives bland comments and does not seem to care in any way, After the game Paolo was hurting because it was his third derby game and he has not been able to get a victory for the fans, and that is what he wants because he loves the club."

Of course as noted to us this morning, Paolo did win one derby against Championship strugglers Bristol City earlier on in the season at Ashton Gate.

Let`s hope Paolo wins the big one at the Kassam Stadium in March. Our yellow friends down the A420 have already sold out all tickets in the home end for their cup final against Swindon and are looking to chuck town fans on a ramshackle temporary stand at the fence end so they can give more tickets to Oxford supporters.
