AFC Bournemouth Try To Unsettle Ritchie?
AFC Bournemouth have conceded defeat in their bid to sign Matt Ritchie from Swindon Town but it may not be over yet.
Bizarrely out of nowhere, The Cherries stated on their website on Boxing Day that they had tabled a £500,000 bid for Ritchie that town had turned down by Swindon.
One must wonder if posting the news on their website was a clever ploy to try and unsettle the player to force Town to accept a bid.
The Cherries have been keen admirers of Ritchie for a while now and seemed keen to land their man although Town boss Paolo Di Canio said it would take a bid of £2M to pry Ritchie away from the County Ground.
Bournemouth have conceded defeat in securing their main but likely hope Ritchie will see the lure of League One football at Bournemouth too good to turn down and ask Town to accept the bid despite Ritchie saying he is happy to remain at SN1.
Despite saying they are done chasing Ritchie, AFCB are expected to return with an improved offer when the transfer window opens in January.
Question is, Would Matt Ritchie be willing to play for a smaller club in League One or play for a bigger club and win trophies in League Two with a return to League One next season a genuine possibility?
