David Duke Slams Swindon

Former Swindon Town midfielder David Duke has called the club a shambles and explains he was glad to go to a bigger club.

Duke who played for Swindon from 2000-2005 was a player you either loved or hated but there was a sigh of relief when Duke left after the 2004-05 season after putting on bad performance after bad performance towards the end of his tenure at the County Ground.

Speaking on his departure from the County Ground a year on Duke said, 'The move has been fantastic for me,' he said. 'Darlington is a marvellous club with a big ground and no problems or dramas like we had at Swindon. Everything is very stable and organised. It's much better.'

The drama's he speaks of are the late payments and treatment by the management team during his time at Swindon.

'When I was there it was just a shambles and those of us who have moved on have realised just how badly run it was at the time.' Duke commented

'At our new clubs we all get paid on time every month, although I understand they (Swindon) have sorted out that now.'

Duke also commented on the new management team of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet and agrees that the future is looking brighter for Swindon Town. 'It looks like the new management team has more nous and has got it back on track.

'Perhaps there is a bit more respect and discipline floating around, which will help.' Duke finished.

Who's he trying to wind up - himself or STFC - he's long gone and forgotten as far as I'm concerned.
