Roy Hodgson The Safe Pair Of Hands!

A lot will be said about England`s ambition should Roy Hodgson be confirmed as England boss as expected. Harry Redknapp was seemingly head and shoulders above the rest but simply put, the FA have gone with a safe bet.

It appears that The FA is sick and tired of being embroiled in controversy. Recently we have had Sven out with the ladies, McClaren who was just clueless and Fabio Capello who didn`t seem that interested in the job.

England expected Redknapp to be the man to take the national team forward however we feel that Redknapp`s tax case, which he was acquitted of, sealed 'Arry`s fate.

Spurs, Redknapp`s current employers had already said they wanted big money if the FA were to lure their popular boss away from White Hart Lane. Hodgson`s contract is up in June at West Brom so there is no large compensation package to be agreed. Hodgson is free to leave for nothing.

After all the controversy surrounding previous managers, Hodsgon is seen as a safe appointment. He largely keeps himself to himself and has a decent record as a manager. He will also appease those saying we need an English manager.

There doesn`t seem to be any expectation heading into Euro 2012 for England to perform so Hodgson ideally is seen as the man to steady the ship heading into the 2014 World Cup.

As a Swindon fan, it could be worse, Sam Allardyce could have been poached from West Ham meaning just one thing……
