Five Swindon Players Could Go In January

Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio has been told he will have to wheel and deal in January if he wants to strengthen his squad.

Below is a list of players who may have played their last game for Swindon Town, in fairness most are quite obvious.

Luke Rooney - Seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements after the Preston North End shambles. Has been sent out on loan to Burton Albion and Rotherham United. Town could be willing to allow him to go for a small fee in January to get him off the wage bill.

Federico Bassone - Joined the club on an initial six month contract until January. Has dropped down the pecking order behind Nathan Thompson, Joe Devera and even Alan McCormack. Can`t see his contract being extended. Another one off the wage bill.

Chris Smith - The Samsung Win a Pro Contract winner made his one and only first team appearance at Bradford City last season. He has been named on the bench on a couple of occasions at the start of the season but has now become a forgotten man. Currently on loan at League Two side Northampton Town. Will likely be released when contract expires in January.

Lee Cox - On loan midfielder at our rubbish friends in yellow and blue down the A420. Has expressed an interest at remaining at the three sided cesspit.

Oliver Risser - Currently on loan at Stevenage FC. The deal was said to be made permanent in January so we shall see. Played against Swindon Town a few weeks ago for Stevenage so seemingly has no future at the County Ground.

It is understood that striker Paul Benson who is on loan at Portsmouth will be brought back to the squad in January after Chris Martin failed to make an impression so far from Norwich.
