Swindon Chairman: No Money For New Signings

Swindon Town chairman Sir William Patey told the press after Town`s 5-0 loss that the pot is empty and if Town are to make any new signings in the transfer window, Paolo Di Canio will have to wheel and deal.

Swindon have spent a stupid amount of money this season and it appears as if Town`s backer Andrew Black has said "that`s your lot" as he plans to exit the County Ground.

Speaking to the BBC Sport website Patey said, 'The dream scenario is we'd be in the Championship with new investors and new owners, but there are a lot of other things that could happen too, and I do stress the money situation is extremely tight.'

Di Canio has been known to spend ridiculous amounts of money on players, some who have done really well, others who have been absolute rubbish or never played a first team game.

Town currently sit in the League One playoff places and are currently looking to sell Paul Caddis, Lee Cox and Oliver Risser who has recently returned to the club from a loan spell at Stevenage.

Whilst many fans on the internet have gone into meltdown, it should be noted that Town were not expecting to have to pay almost a million pounds in compensation to Shrewsbury Town for James Collins and to Exeter City for Troy Archibald-Henville and thought this money would be staggered over the year.

Failure to advance in any cup competitions this season has also hindered finances.
