Plymouth Keen On Swindon Duo

Plymouth Keen On Swindon Duo

Plymouth Argyle have lined up Swindon Town duo Lee Cox and Luke Rooney as potential signings heading into the new League Two season.

Cox spent last season on loan at Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle. Oxford were keen to keep Cox after a string of impressive performances however did not gave the money to conclude a deal.

Rooney had a strange season. He started the season as a main stay in the Swindon team until an embarrassing loss to Preston North End and falling out with then-manager Paolo Di Canio appeared to end his Swindon career.

Rooney was sent on loan to Burton Albion and Rotherham United where he has minimal impact. Rooney was supposed to be part of a package that would have seen Marlon Pack arrive at the County Ground in exchange for Rooney. That deal fell through although Cheltenham remains a potential destination for the former Gillingham winger who was set for talks today with them about a potential move.

Rooney whose Town career appeared over, returned to action with Swindon under new boss Kevin MacDonald to see out the season.
