Row Over Adam Rooney Deal

Row Over Adam Rooney Deal

A row is set to erupt over the free transfer of Adam Rooney to Swindon Town if a report by BBC Radio Swindon is to be believed.

Rooney arrived at Town last season in a loan swap deal with Birmingham City for Paul Caddis and part of that contract stated Town sign Rooney at the conclusion.

That was then under the board with a wealthy backer, this is now under a board that seems keen to slash the wage bill.

As part of that Rooney would no doubt have been on a decent wedge at City and now Jed & co at the County Ground state the contract is invalid as it was agreed by the previous owners.

Now from our perspective how can a contract be void due to change of ownership? Contracts are agreed by the company not individuals and if that is the case surely everyone on Swindon Town's books become free agents as their deals were sanctioned by the old board?

Nothing's simple at Swindon Town and now Rooney's representatives are set to fight believing their client is under a new deal until the end of the 2014/15 season.
