Alan Mac: Why I Had To Leave Swindon

Former Swindon Town captain Alan McCormack said he had to leave Swindon Town because the offer quite simply didn`t give his family the long term security he was after.

Town chairman Jed McCrory said he was prepared to give McCormack a two year deal but the deal was only verbal and not written where as the offer coming from Brentford was two years with a years option which he opted to accept.

McCormack had said since day one that Swindon was the place he wanted to be but only if the offer gave security to himself and his young family.

McCrory said the club did whatever they could to keep their captain and that Alan Mac would be welcome back at any time to the County Ground.
