Pompey Join Rooney Chase

Pompey Join Rooney Chase

Rooney could be heading to Portsmouth. A few years ago it could very well have been Wayne Rooney heading to Portsmouth in the Premier League but the man in question this time is Luke Rooney who has also attracted the interest of fewllow League Two sides Cheltenham Town and Plymouth Argyle.

Rooney was one of many Paolo Di Canio's impulse buys after seeing him dazzle for Gillingham against Town and has seemingly played his last game for the Town after an up and down season.

Rooney spent most of last season on loan at Rotherham United and Burton Albion last season before returning to Town after falling out with Paolo Di Canio following the massacre at Preston North End last season.

Rooney featured again for Town upon his return under Kevin MacDonald but it looks as if his Swindon career is over with Town keen to get the winger off the wage bill.

Town are also looking to offload Lee Cox but injuries mean that the club may only be able to shift him on loan with Oxford United expected to be interested again.

Meanwhile the club refuses to discuss the Adam Rooney and Paul Caddis situation with both expected to report to camp when training opens in a couple of weeks time in Wanborough.
