Gary Roberts Released By Swindon Town

Midfielder Gary Roberts has been released by Swindon Town after making 44 appearances for the club last season.

Roberts has been linked with a move to League Two Chesterfield and his release means that move will likely be confirmed early next week as the club will not have to pay a fee.

Roberts was signed by Paolo Di Canio after impressing at Huddersfield helping them win promotion to the Football League Championship.

Ironically Roberts best game for Town was likely against Brentford in the playoffs at Griffin Park although he will be remembered for a 70 yard strike in the win at Tranmere in the Spring.

Roberts failed to live up to his expectations and is now available on a free transfer.
