'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We're Going To Wembley....Finally!

The Wembley Stadium Fiasco is nearly over as the FA agree to pay Multiplex £35m to finish off the stadium.

The 90,000 seat stadium was set to be finished well over a year ago but financial problems plunged the project into chaos and put it well behind schedule.

This years FA Cup final and Football League playoffs were due to take place at the masterpiece stadium however this quickly changed and the FA had to move all events to Cardiff's Millenium Stadium.

FA chief executive Brian Barwick said: 'This agreement secures the process of getting the new Wembley Stadium up, running and open to the public.

'We look forward to staging major events at the stadium next year and consider this agreement with Multiplex to represent the beginning of the end of the construction phase.

'Everyone's target is now to complete what will be the finest stadium in the world.'

It is all but certain now the 2007 FA Cup Final will be played at the new Wembley Stadium assuming that 2 smaller events take place first.

One of the 2 events scheduled to take place before the FA Cup is believed to be an England Under 21 match.

Swindon Town have never lost at Wembley Stadium and won the League Cup in 1969 against Arsenal at that very ground as well as win promotion to Divison 1 (Which was taken away) in 1990 and promotion to the Premiership in 1993.
