Dennis Wise: Match Reaction

Swindon Town Manager Dennis Wise spoke to the press after Swindon Town's 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town at Gay Meadow this afternoon.

'Aaron Brown's strike took a slight deflection but it was a great strike. Aaron can hit a ball and it fell nicely for him. Andy Monkhouse looks to have done his hamstring which may give Aaron an opportunity now. He tracked back well and worked hard - running 40 yards to defend when he had just come onto the pitch.'

'It was a tough place to go to but we deserved the win. We had the better chances against what was a big side. We knew it would be tough and it was a battle. I'm chuffed to bits with the lads because we came through it well.'

'Phil did everything he needed to do and he did well. He did everything he had to do and pruced that save at the end. I thought the game was over then because the referee seemed to go over the injury-time.'

'They could have made life easier by finishing the chances off but in the end we have scored two goals away from home.

'Fola's goal was well-taken. He had a header just before that which he should have done better with but he did well for the goal. I told him after the goal that his job was not done, but he ran around and did his job.

'Ricky hit the post as well and the game could have been over at the break We made it hard but that's the way it is.

'Their goal was a fantastic free-kick which went into the top corner but we will learn. Jerel was too keen to get in front of the forward for the free-kick but we will look at the performance overall and learn from the mistakes. The back four were fantastic once again as they have been all season.'

'It was very important to get the result and having got a deserved three points it was an added bonus. Next weekend we will be interesting. We are a good team and so are Lincoln,'

We were warned Andy Monkhouse was a bit of a 'sicknote' , luckily Aaron has acted more adult like, knuckled under and is proving to be an asset.
