More on Sturrock Appointment

It appears that Swindon Town will name Paul Sturrock as new manager early this week. The League Newspaper has revealed more details of this fantastic appointment.

Sturrock will bring in the 2 coaches that help lead Swindon Town back to League One. Sturrock will bring coaches Kevin Summerfield and John Blackley to the club early next week.

The trio of Sturrock, Summefrield and Blackley led Plymouth to two promotions and will target a similar feat with Swindon Town.

Sturrock should he be re-hired, will be allowed to leave Swindon and join Sheffield Wednesday without Swindon getting any compensation as per terms of the contract he will sign at Swindon.

It is thought Sturrock will sign a 2 1/2 year deal at the County Ground and be in charge for Swindon's game FA Cup match against Carlisle on Saturday.

Sturrock is very well respected at Plymouth and Wednesday and fans revolted when Sturrock was sacked earlier this season due to his huge popularity with the fans.

We will keep you up to date with any breaking news.

Eh !! Be re-hired - what is all that about - I can see problems here - if he does well and Sheff Wed want him back - we are once again left in the doo-dah !! with no compensation - why do we always complicate a simple thing. He may be the best for the job but we are going to be under a constant cloud that he may up sticks and leave.

Why is it that with swindon players/managers think they can come here and dictate everything and our board just go along with it, I want Sturrock but only if he intends to be here to offer some stability not to try and get back to wednesday. We should also be able to claim compenasation if he went I don't think that is too much to ask.

Why does Sturrock keep failing and then keep getting taken on by other clubs?

hmmm your story is really hard to follow Gaz!

why go for sturrock if he is bound to do another jump ship like the rest of them do why not got for someone you know who loves teh club and is dedicated to helping stfc acheive something in the long term ie luc nijholt??? he's got proven track record albeit abroad, at least there would be some stability at the club for longer than 5 secs. granted williams/hunter arent up for the task of managing swindon between the pair of them definately 2 inexperienced for us at the present time and williams is needed back in defence not on the sidelines.

I'm more and more going off of this Paul S. How can he be fully committed when he has a safety net if things don't go according to plan here... he'll then toddle on back to Shed Wed... It seems on face value we are paying his 'standby wages' for Sheff Wednesday.

I reckon you will be fine...even a year of him will serve you guys well....

He will be with us at least 18 months, in league one again easy by that time under sturrock (no pressure for him lol)
