Lonergan Returns To Preston

Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has returned to Preston North End according to the Club Call website.

Lonergan who has featured in 2 games for Swindon had not played since Swindon's Wiltshire shield match againast Salisbury City, where he had a less than brilliant performance.

Preston boss Paul Simpson said, 'Lonners is just training at the moment and he still has to complete the month's loan even though he's not playing.

Preston would not allow Lonergan to play in the FA Cup and Phil Smith has now secured a starting role with Swindon.

'He's found himself in a situation and if anyone's to blame it's me for not allowing him to play in the FA Cup but that's me being selfish because I want him available for January.' Simpson continued.

'The lad who went in played and did well and Paul Sturrock has stuck by him. Lonners is frustrated but he understands the situation.' Simspon finished.
